Treatment options
1
Orthoses
Orthoses, commonly called orthotics, can be used as part of an overall treatment plan. We make a variety of custom and semi-custom (pre-made) devices to suit individual needs. Orthoses help to decrease tissue stress on the feet and lower limbs, enhance foot function, improve balance and prevent injury.
Orthoses are made from a variety of materials, including 3d printed (a type of nylon), EVA, polypropylene and carbon fibre to suit different sports and activities.

Padding, taping, bracing, CAM walkers, AFO's (Ankle Foot Orthoses)
Platform podiatry has experience with a variety of load management methods, ranging from simple in-shoe padding and foot taping to designing an AFO for conditions such as adult acquired flatfoot.
4
Extracorporeal shockwave therapy
Extracorporeal shockwave therapy, often referred to as shockwave treatment, is an evidence based treatment using acoustic sound waves to help heal musculoskeletal acute and chronic injuries.
At Platform Podiatry we mostly use the treatment for plantar heel pain and achilles tendinopathy. We use shockwave as an adjunct therapy in addition to rehabilitation exercises, orthotic therapy, footwear advice and load management program.
5
Dry needling
Dry needling is a technique of using fine sterile needles to help release muscular trigger points, which are painful palpable nodules located in skeletal tissue, to reduce pain. Cliff has completed an additional certification to use dry needling on the lower limb and feet.
